How front group ‘Student Rights’ undermines Palestine solidarity

New article at Electronic Intifada examining the anti-Palestinian dimension of ‘Student Rights’ work. As well as fuelling Islamophobia, the group actively seeks to undermine student activism in solidarity with Palestinians.

Student Rights was originally founded in reaction to the wave of non-violent occupations that students implemented at various campuses in protest against Israel’s Operation Cast Lead in 2008-9. Its website refers to this obliquely as an example of ‘increasing political extremism’ that needs to be countered. The group has tried to smear students at Brunel university, promoted pro-Israel points of view and, unsurprisingly has an exclusively pro-Israel advisory board.
